Bilingual Speech Therapy

What does a bilingual SLP do? We don’t teach English! A bilingual SLP has the background necessary to identify language disorders ACROSS languages! It can be hard for a regular speech therapist to identify whether a child with, for example a Spanish-language background, also has a language disorder. A bilingual SLP has the expertise to identify whether a language error is due to an underlying disorder, or if it is due to differences in the home language!
